Yellow Diver Aberreidy
There is a Blue Lagoon in Aberreidy in Pembrokeshire a deep old sea flooded quarry where the water is always a blue green colour because of the mineral deposits .
It has always been a favourite place for my teenage children to put on wet suits and dive and jump off the old quarry buildings known as the Street into the icy deep lagoon below. The “Red Bull”World Diving Championships have been held there recently which has just added to the excitement and mythology of the place.
One sunny afternoon we were there, me sat on the slate beach watching the children sleek in their wetsuits jumping and diving, when to my judgemental eyes a very unlikely family arrived.
Three extremely large even flabby platinum blonde boys and an equally large Mum and Dad.
Anyway they stripped off and without wet suits slipped into the water and within seconds they were hauling them selves out on the far side of the lagoon and shimmying up the rocks and for the next half hour or so, like golden seals proceeded to give the most beautiful and elegant display of diving and jumping from the highest tops of the buildings where no one else would dare to go .
